Birth of the Messiah in Jewish and Christian Tradition (Biblesoft Study Series)

This Bible Study Series was produced and created especially by Biblesoft, for use in the PC Study Bible and OneTouch programs. It has been taken from articles and notes written for our partner online study site nextstepbiblestudy.net, and been adapted for use as an electronic reference work. Originally created for Christmas season 2020-21, it is divided into 6 separate studies. Each study provides in-depth analysis of the Greek (or Hebrew) text of Scripture, along with an extensive examination of the historical and culture background, questions of interpretation, and more!

This particular series deals with a specific aspect of Messianic thought, among Jews in the first centuries B.C./A.D.—namely, traditions regarding the birth of the Messiah. This is an important topic for Christians, in light of the Gospel narratives of Jesus' birth, but there is suprising little said or written regarding the Messiah's birth in Jewish tradition at the time. Even so, there are a number of important lines of tradition, and this study examines all of the relevation Old Testament passages, their relation to early Christianity, and the corresponding Jewish traditions in the first centuries B.C./A.D. This series is intended as a supplement for several other, more extensive series, such as Yeshua the Anointed, which offers a much more thorough and detailed study on the background of Jesus as the Messiah.
