Classic Studies on Eschatology and the Second Coming

This new Collection is intended as a supplement to Biblesoft's Eschatology and Bible Prophecy Study Library. It features 20 classic studies (22 print volumes) on the End Times and the Second Coming which are not included in that previous collection. Many of these titles deal specifically with the Premillennial, Dispensationalist mode of interpretating prophecy and Biblical eschatology, and are written from that perspective. While not necessarily endorsed by Biblesoft, the popularity and influence of this approach makes it worthy of being included prominently in any collection of writings on eschatology from this formative period (c. 1850-1920) in modern Christianity. At the same time, a number of writings representing different viewpoints and approaches are also included, so as to give a more rounded presentation of the subject. In addition to being of considerable historical interest, these works continue to be valuable and worth reading in their own right.

Featured in this collection are three major works dealing with the Premillennial position:

• Premillennialism and the Second Coming: Five Classic Studies—This is an original compilation which brings together five studies, written between 1849 and 1919, both for and against the classic Premillenial (and Dispensational) viewpoint; these include:
• The Coming and Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ (1849), by Horatius Bonar
• Christ's Second Coming: Will It Be Premillennial? (4th ed., 1856), by David R. Brown
• The Second Advent of Christ Premillennial (A Reply to D. Brown, 1868), by William Kelly
• The Second Advent of Christ Not Premillennial (1859), by Joseph F. Berg
• The Coming of the Lord: Will It Be Premillennial? (1919) by James H. Snowden
• The Second Coming of Christ: Premillennial Essays (1879)—The product of a famous and influential Prophecy Conference held in New York city, these sixteen essays and addresses represent one of the most thorough and detailed treatments of the Premillennial view you are likely to find. They cover nearly every aspect—historical, exegetical, theological, relation to other doctrines, and so forth.
• The Theocratic Kingdom (3 volumes, 1884)—In this detailed and forceful work, George N. H. Peters ably defends the classic Premillenial, Dispensationalist mode of interpretation, particular in regard to the distinctive understanding of the relationship between the Church and "the Kingdom". Laid out as a series of more than 200 specific propositions, it functions as a systematic work of Dispensational Apologetics. Not without considerable controversy, it remains highly valued by many today.
