Notes on the Parables of Our Lord and Notes on the Miracles of Our Lord are detailed and well-researched commentary on the parables and miracles found throughout the Gospels. In Parables, Trench clearly defines parables by contrasting against fables, myths, etc. He then goes on to provide meticulous commentary on 30 parables. In Miracles, Trench opens with an 81-page exhaustive essay defining miracles, then explains in detail 33 miracles.

Richard Chenevix Trench was the Archbishop of Dublin for 21 years, Dean of Westminster Abbey for 7 years and a Biblical scholar. He was also instrumental in the creation of The Oxford English Dictionary.
