Chronological and Geographical Introduction to the Life of Christ

We are pleased to offer this edition of Chrétian Édouard Caspari's A Chronological and Geographical Introduction to the Life of Christ, translated into English (1876). This classic critical study, focusing on the geography of the Gospels and the New Testament chronology as it relates to the Life of Jesus, addresses many of the key issues and questions raised by critical scholars in the 19th century. Caspari's approach, in this regard, is largely apologetic, and his work upholds a more traditional-conservative view of the Gospel history. The treatment is thorough, but well-organized and highly readable, and easy for the non-specialist to follow. The Gospel history is divided into six main chronological divisions, with discussion on the specific Gospel passages, as well as the relevant geographical information. There is an extensive appendix on the topography of Jerusalem, as well as a number of useful indexes.
