Biblesoft is pleased to offer the Brenton Greek-English Septuagint. For more than a century, this has been the version of the Septuagint (LXX) most used by English-speaking students and pastors, and it is now available in electronic form for PC Study Bible! Edited and translated by Lancelot Charles Lee (C. L.) Brenton (1807-1862), at the time of its first publication (1844), it was one of the only English translations available, and has since been published and reprinted numerous times, and in several different formats.
We have long made the Septuagint available in our higher-end libraries (Professional Reference Library and OneTouch Professional Series)—the popular Rahlfs critical edition. However, we felt that offering this classic Greek-English edition would be a welcome addition to our Greek and LXX study resources. It has a simpler format, keeping closer to the standard Book ordering and chapter/verse numbering of most English versions, and with limited textual and translation notes. There is also a convenient Introduction to the LXX, as well as other supplemental information in the Appendix.
Please be aware that this is not an Interlinear. The Greek text and English translation appear side-by-side, in a dual-pane format, so that you can always read and compare the two for each verse or passage.
Also, if you have our Greek Word Database active in your Library, you can find more information on most Greek words in the text. Just double-click the Greek and the Word Information Dialogue will launch in the lower left-hand corner, providing morphology (parsing) and other lexical information. (Not every Library contains the Greek Word Database support; to access it may require a program upgrade, or purchase of the functionality as an add-on module).
