Egypt and the Books of Moses by E. W. Hengstenberg

This is one of the classic writings on the Old Testament by the famous German scholar and theologian Ernst Wilhelm (E. W.) Hengstenberg (1802-69), best known for his Christologie des Alten Testaments (Christology of the Old Testament), published between 1829 and 1835, and revised in 1854-7. Egypt and the Books of Moses (1841) is an historical study and commentary on the Pentateuch (Genesis–Deuteronomy), dealing with some of the (modern) critical questions which had begun to surface already by that time.
