Dr. Harold L. Willmington is an author, educator, and Bible lecturer. He attended Dallas Theological Seminary, Texas and Ashland Theological Seminary, and is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Culver-Stockton College, and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
Dr. Willmington has authored 15 books, including Willmington’s Guide to the Bible, The King is Coming, and Wilmington’s Bible Handbook. He is currently executive editor with Tyndale House Publishers of The Teacher’s Bible.
Prior to coming to Lynchburg in 1972, he pastored for some 17 years. He currently serves as vice president and board member of Liberty University and dean of Liberty Bible Institute. He has also served as a visiting professor at the American Institute of Holy Land Studies in Jerusalem, Israel. More than 80,000 students from all 50 states and 30 foreign countries have enrolled in Liberty Home Bible Institute correspondence courses, consisting of 240 forty-five-minute lectures developed by Dr. Willmington. Over ten million of his teaching cassettes are now in circulation worldwide.
For 17 years, his wife, Sue, appeared on the nationally televised program Old Time Gospel Hour as an interpreter for deaf viewers in America and Canada. Their son, Matt, teaches at Liberty University and heads Youth Quest. Matt and his wife, Christine, have given the Willmingtons two grandchildren, Nathanael and Carissa.
