A commentary on the meaning and proper translation of New Testament words and phrases. Complete 20 volume set. Over 7,000 pages of expert linguistic analysis. Written in easy-to-understand English.

No reference work in history has been better equipped to help the average Bible student understand the exact meaning and intent of New Testament words and phrases than the recently completed United Bible Societies (UBS) Handbook Series on the New Testament. This is because this work explains, in simple English, what each word and phrase in the Bible means in its original context. Unlike other commentaries, the Handbook Series focuses all of its attention on understanding and translating the Greek New Testament.

There are no doctrinal interpretations in this commentary -- only an honest attempt to arrive at the exact meaning and intent of the original words of the Bible. And to determine the exact meaning of a Bible passage is the first and most important foundation stone of any careful study of God's Word.

The Handbook Series centers all of its discussions around a comparison between the Revised Standard Version and Today's English Version (1st edition) of the Bible. These discussions explain how well each of these popular Bible versions did in communicating the message of the original Greek. If the text was over or under translated, you are told. If the text could have been translated better another way, you are informed of this as well. This kind of comparison gives you a very complete understanding of how a Bible passage should or should not be translated. These discussions, then, serve as object lessons to help you better comprehend what the original meaning and intent of a particular Bible passage actually was. And by using PC Study Bible's computer edition of this work, you can also compare other popular Bible versions -- such as the NIV, KJV, NKJV or NASB. The result is that, as you simply read and use this work, you can't help but build a more complete and accurate understanding of God's Word.
NOTE: This add-on is compatible with PC Study Bible Version 4 and 5. For it to operate, you must have a pre-installed Version 4 or 5 library.

This handbook is one of my favorite. It is easy to use for those who have limited or no greek experience. It brings out the meaning of the original languages.
